Mike Tyson congratulates Cincinnati instead of UConn on championship win

The UConn Huskies have dominated women’s college hoops for a long time.

The Huskies have won 75 straight games, the last being an 82-51 victory over Syracuse for the program’s fourth national championship in a row. That is a feat that only the UCLA Bruins men’s team accomplished from 1967-73.

You would think it’d be hard to confuse UConn with any other team, but if there’s a will, there’s a way and Mike Tyson found a way.

Shortly after the championship game concluded, Tyson went to Twitter to congratulate the Cincinnati Bearcats, not the Huskies.

What makes it that much funnier is that the Bearcats have been awful for some years now. In fact, UConn’s 75 straight wins are more wins than Cincinnati has had in the last four years.

Mike Tyson has since deleted the tweet. I would have hated to have been the guy to tell him that he was wrong. I heard he can still throw a punch.

UConn’s women’s basketball won their fourth NCAA Women’s Basketball title in a row, setting a new record for consecutive wins.

Considering that Geno Auriemma’s team has accomplished an historic feat, it makes sense that his team players would look towards history in finding a fun way to celebrate.

As the team received their title trophy, Morgan Tuck took a Marine Saber, given to coach Auriemma by the Marine Corps, and knighted fellow stars Breanna Stewart and Moriah Jefferson.

Now if we digressed, we could pick at Tuck’s monotone way of praising her teammates, or focus on how she’s already showing pro form by answering a question about her WNBA ambitions with a very politically correct answer. But needlessly to say, the team’s form of celebration is…interesting.
