One year after the NFL cancelled the 2020 preseason, the league is set to kick off the 2021 NFL preseason tonight with a matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys. After expanding the regular season to 17 games, the NFL eliminated one week of the preseason for a total of three games for any team not playing in the Hall of Fame Game. NBC Sports and Peacock have you covered with all you need to know about the 2021 NFL preseason schedule including dates, times, national TV channels, matchups and more.

When does the NFL preseason start?

The 2021 NFL preseason kicks off tonight, Thursday, August 5, with the Hall of Fame game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys. The game will be played at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. Week 1 of the preseason kicks off on Thursday, August 12 while the last preseason game will be played on Sunday, August 29.

Is there an NFL preseason game tonight?

There are five NFL preseason games tonight, concluding with Browns at Falcons on NBC and Peacock. Sunday’s full schedule:

How to watch the 2021 NFL preseason

Some preseason games will air nationally on networks such as NBC, Fox, CBS and ESPN. NFL Network will also air a record 23 live preseason games. Games on NFL Network will be blacked out in the participating teams’ home markets that are airing the games locally. NBCUniversal’s streaming service Peacock will also air the August 29 matchup between the Cleveland Browns and Atlanta Falcons. Check out the full NFL preseason schedule below.

The 2022 NFL Football season is finally back in session. This Sunday night Matt Ryan and the Indianapolis Colts (4-6-1) head to Arlington, Texas to face Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys (8-3). Live coverage begins at 7:00 p.m. ET with Football Night in America. NBC and Peacock have got you covered with access to this week’s games as well as every Sunday Night Football game this season.

This year’s Sunday Night Football coverage will feature Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth in the booth and Melissa Stark on the sidelines. Live coverage begins every Sunday night at 7:00 p.m. ET with Football Night in America with the talented group of Maria Taylor, Tony Dungy, Rodney Harrison, Jason Garrett, Chris Simms, Jac Collinsworth, Mike Florio, and Matthew Berry. Berry, a fantasy football industry pioneer, will also appear on Peacock’s exclusive NFL post-game show, Sunday Night Football Final.

Football Night in America will also feature a weekly segment hosted by Simms and sports betting and Berry, which highlights storylines and betting odds for the upcoming Sunday Night Football game on NBC, Peacock, and Universo. Real-time betting odds on the scoring ticker during FNIA also will be showcased. Peacock Sunday Night Football Final, an NFL postgame show produced by NBC Sports, will also go deep on the storylines and BetMGM betting lines that proved prominent during the matchup.
