A pair of huge news items dropped on Saturday night during UFC 199.
First came the fight announcement that everyone has been waiting for. We’re finally going to see a rematch between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on August 20th.
The fight was originally scheduled to headline UFC 200, but McGregor was pulled from the fight after refusing to leave his training to do mandatory promotion for the event.
Then came a bombshell that even caught Joe Rogan off guard.
At the tail end of a fantastic video package promoting UFC 200, there was a shot of former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar standing in the cage ready to fight, which is exactly what he will do at the T-Mobile Arena on July 9th.
Lesnar is currently under contract with WWE, who released a statement about Brock’s participation in the octagon:
“Brock Lesnar remains under contract to WWE, however, he has been granted a one-off opportunity to compete at UFC 200. Following this milestone event on July 9, Brock will return to WWE for SummerSlam on Sunday, August 21, live on WWE Network.”
The last time Lesnar stepped foot in the cage was back in 2011 when he lost to Alistair Overeem after battling a serious case of diverticulitis.
