Conor McGregor says he would love to crossover and participate in a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather.
The current UFC featherweight champion told BT Sport that “it would be nice to make that fight if the fans were interested and wanted to see it.”
Gareth A. Davies, who conducted the interview, told McGregor that it would be a “billion dollar fight,” which lit up the dollar signs in the Irishman’s eyes.
“I’m all about those numbers, Gareth, so I would definitely do that,” McGregor said.
Before McGregor can think about fighting Mayweather, he’ll need to focus on his debut in the welterweight division on Saturday night against Nate Diaz at UFC 196. He was scheduled to face lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos in Las Vegas, but dos Anjos suffered a foot injury during training and was forced to pull out of the event.
If McGregor can continue to dominate in the octagon, the money might be too much for either party to pass up.
I mean come on, it’s a billion dollars we’re talking about.
